Question:

Respected SIR,

I became a British citizen on 26/08/09 by naturalisation.I still holds my indian passport with a P R status as i have not yet applied for British passport. Could i use my indian passport for international travel or should i wait for a British passport?

Yours Faithfully,
B. George

Answer :

Dear Mrs George,

Thank you for you e mail.
Once naturalised, you are considered to be a British citizen. As the Indian Nationality Law does not permit dual citizenship, when you become a British Citizen your Indian Citizenship automatically cease to exist. Therefore strictly speaking you are not allowed to use your Indian Passport for your intended travel.
